From her early days in IT to her current role as Concierge Services Manager, she brings a unique blend of technical insight, creative passion, and a hospitality-driven mindset to everything she does. A lover of 80s rock and early mornings on the golf course, Sharlene’s story is one of growth, dedication, and genuine care.

How long have you worked at Fremont Bank, and what’s your role? What does your day-to-day look like?

I’ve been at the Bank for 32½ years. My journey started back in IT when backup tapes were the size of steering wheels! I’m proud of those years — our team tackled challenges, navigated major system changes, and supported every department through key technology milestones. We grew, learned, and accomplished so much together — even surviving Y2K! It was a special group, many of whom are still here and remain my closest friends.

Then, I followed my passion for creativity and client service, transitioning from IT to the social world of the Client Relations Department. Today, as the Concierge Services Manager, I oversee bookings — from events and trips to corporate property stays.

What do you enjoy most about your job? What motivates you each day?

I love that no two days are the same. The variety, the relationships I build, and the sense of purpose in helping things run smoothly for others keep me energized. Knowing that the details I manage — whether for a trip, event, or process — make someone’s day easier and more memorable is what motivates me.

What’s your greatest strength as a business professional?

My greatest strength is staying organized, calm, and focused while keeping people at the center of everything I do. I manage complex logistics, high-value assets, and fast-moving requests with attention to detail, balancing it all with clear communication, genuine care, and a hospitality-driven mindset.

Who inspires you?

I’m inspired by people who are humble, grounded, and kind — those who treat everyone with respect and carry themselves with quiet strength. Anyone who shows up with generosity, empathy, and authenticity inspires me to do the same. I believe the best people make the world gentler just by being in it.

What’s your favorite decade and why?

The 1980s, hands down! The music alone — Def Leppard, Journey, Van Halen, Bon Jovi — makes it unbeatable. Add in big hair (my gravity-defying bangs!), neon colors, leg warmers, cassette tapes, and my Walkman. And, of course, there was a high school boy with a leather jacket and mullet who took me to my first concert at the Cow Palace in San Francisco to see Ozzy Osbourne and Metallica. Today, as grandparents, we still “rock out” to ‘80s music together!
