Associate Spotlight: Michelle Nguyen

Can you believe it? 2024 is Fremont Bank's 60th anniversary, and it's all thanks to our fantastic team of associates. At Fremont Bank, we take joy in witnessing the continuous growth of our team, and this month’s spotlight is a prime example of the amazing talent within our ranks. From her humble beginnings as an intern to our now superstar client relations coordinator (if you love to attend our events, she’s the reason why!). She’s an inspiration and a delight to work with. Join us in getting to know Michelle Nguyen!

How long have you worked at Fremont Bank and what do you do here?

I started my Fremont Bank journey with a summer internship in the Loan Servicing Department in 2016 while in college. I returned in the summer of 2017 because I missed the interpersonal connections and friendships I gained during my internship. After graduating, I connected with Fremont Bank once again with a temp job opportunity in the Client Relations Department. From there, I became a full-time associate as a client relations coordinator and have been here ever since! This year celebrates my 5th year anniversary with the bank as a full-time associate.

As a client relations coordinator, I support the team in planning, supporting, and leading internal and external events. I love seeing the projects and events we do at the Bank come to fruition. Being a part of that process and being supportive in the process makes me feel so fulfilled.

What do you enjoy the most about your job?

One of the things I enjoy most are the people and the interpersonal connections I have made so far. From being able to talk about work to home life, I truly enjoy and value the time I have with my co-workers and fellow associates.

I really like introducing them to new foods. Whenever I discover a new snack or food item that I enjoy, I always want to share it with the team and see their reaction. What makes me even happier is when the team raves and enjoys the food as well. One recent snack discovery I made was Johnny’s Beef Jerky. They’re crispy and delicious! I’m on my third bag in two weeks, so I highly recommend trying it!

What’s your greatest strength as a business professional?

I believe my greatest strength as a business professional is my strong work ethic and my positivity. There was a saying when I first joined the Bank: “Do it right the first time.” This has stuck with me ever since. At Fremont Bank, I put in 100% in everything I do, always having the end goal in mind. I want the work I put in to be something I’m proud of as well as the team and the bank.

If I encounter a situation or problem, I try to look at the bright side, the glass half full, and think from the other person’s perspective. I find that this helps me think of new solutions, and it feels great when something is resolved where both parties are happy.

In honor of Women’s History Month, who is a woman that has inspired you?

A woman who has inspired me in my personal life has been my grandma. Knowing her background and seeing the strong woman she is today, she inspires me every day to live my life to the fullest and with confidence. At 85 years old, she still gardens, cooks delicious meals, and can be unapologetically savage when speaking.

What does women empowerment mean to you?

We provide women the tools and confidence to succeed in their life. We recognize a woman's abilities, voice, and rights, thus giving them an equal opportunity to succeed in a once male-oriented society. When women feel they are heard and they are important, they will feel confident and empowered to do anything they put their mind to.
