When I’m paying in a store using my Fremont Bank debit card in Apple Pay how will my experience be different?

When using your debit card via Apple Pay, your experience will be similar to when you use your actual debit card. You will still have an option of entering your debit card PIN or signing for your purchase. Purchases made with Apple Pay will look exactly the same on your statement.

Can I continue to use my physical debit card if I suspend or remove my card in the Wallet App?

When you suspend or remove your card in the Wallet App, your device account number is suspended or removed. You can continue to use your physical debit card. If your intention is to disable the card, please contact Fremont Bank’s call center at 800-359-BANK (2265).

What if my Apple device is lost or stolen?

If your device is lost or stolen, you can remove the ability to pay with Apple Pay using the cards on your device by erasing the device remotely using Find My iPhone or Removing All Cards by going to iCloud.com/Settings. You may also contact Fremont Bank to perform the same action on your Fremont Bank-issued debit card. Until you receive your new device, you can continue to use your physical card without interruption.

How does Apple Pay keep my information secure?

Merchants never receive your actual card number.  Instead, they receive a token (device account number) unique to you. In case the merchant encounters a data breach, only the token is compromised and cannot be used to produce fake cards, keeping your debit card safe.

Can I remove my device account number stored on my Apple devices?

Yes, you are able to easily delete the account from your device in the Wallet App.  If you delete your device account number, you will still be able to use your physical debit card.

Are my purchases protected under MasterCard's zero liability?

Yes. Whether you use a digital account number or a physical Debit MasterCard, you are protected with MasterCard Zero Liability against fraudulent transactions1.

What if my physical card is lost or stolen?

Please contact Fremont Bank as soon as possible at 800-359-BANK (2265). Once you receive your replacement card, you will need to add your new card to your mobile wallet.

What should I do when I receive a new, renewed or replacement card?

For any new or replacement cards, you will need to add the card to Apple Pay through the initial set up process. When a card enrolled in Apple Pay expires and is renewed, you will receive a new physical card with a new expiration date. Your renewed card information will automatically be updated from Visa to Apple Pay for you.

1 The MasterCard Zero Liability policy covers US-issued cards only and does not apply to ATM transactions, PIN transactions not processed by MasterCard, or certain commercial card transactions. Cardholder must notify issuer promptly of any unauthorized use. Consult issuer for additional details.
