Supporting STEM in the Silicon Valley

Having STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programs in schools is critical for the success and growth of a community. As a way to continue the development of STEM programs in the Silicon Valley, we sponsored the Silicon Valley Education Foundation (SVEF), a non-profit organization that seeks to create resources and programs for under-privileged students and educators in Silicon Valley.

Last week, SVEF hosted their 2019 DreamMakers Dinner in Downtown San Jose, which brings together some of the most influential change makers in Silicon Valley. This year, Dr. José Moreno Hernández, was the guest of honor. Dr. Hernández, former astronaut and American engineer, is a true inspiration for the youth SVEF serves, having persistently applied to NASA eleven times before being chosen to travel to space! His story truly exemplified the importance of persistence and dertermination!

Leading the Fremont Bank team was Don Marek, SVP of Commercial Banking, who presented the 2019 Nonprofit Honoree Innovation award to Braven-Bay Area, an organization that supports and empowers first-generation college students. We are proud to support the Silicon Valley Education Foundation and their mission to make STEM programs accessible as well as attend the annual DreamMakers dinner.

Being an active member in our community is important to us, learn more about our philanthropic efforts here.
