Fremont Bank Becomes First Regional Sponsor of American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life

Supporting 15 local Relay For Life events

FREMONT, Calif., January 25, 2016 – Fremont Bank Foundation, a philanthropic arm of the Bay Area’s Fremont Bank, announced today the development of a partnership with the American Cancer Society which will provide significant support for the Society’s mission to end cancer and reduce suffering for those who face it.
Fremont Bank will become the first Regional Sponsor of the Society’s Relay For Life movement in the Bay Area, donating more than $25,000 to fifteen 2016 Relay For Life events in local communities.
“Sharing with the community is at the heart of Fremont Bank,” said Brian Hughes, vice president of nonprofit group at Fremont Bank. “Many of our clients and associates have been touched by cancer, so supporting the work of the American Cancer Society is an important decision for us. We’re excited to support fifteen Relay For Life events throughout the community, and we’re looking forward to getting out and participating in them as well.”
Planning is already underway for the 2016 Relay For Life events all over the Bay Area. “The generous donation from Fremont Bank will make an impact on so many lives,” said Bruce Bogart, a cancer survivor and volunteer leader for Relay For Life. “Dollars raised through the Relay For Life events fund groundbreaking cancer research, free information, and vital American Cancer Society programs and services that support those in our community facing a diagnosis.”

The Relay For Life movement unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all. Relay For Life events are community gatherings where teams and individuals camp out at a school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Teams raise funds in the months leading up to the event.
