Fremont Bank Foundation Awards $90,000 to Local Food Banks for the Holidays

FREMONT, Calif., December 9, 2014Fremont Bank Foundation, a philanthropic arm of the Bay Area’s Fremont Bank, recently announced the recipients for its annual holiday grant program.  Each holiday, Fremont Bank Foundation supports select nonprofit organizations with grants to help them provide extra food and basic necessities to local low-income residents and families. This year, Fremont Bank Foundation has chosen to support 18 local nonprofits that serve food or distribute food baskets year-round to those with the greatest needs in the communities the bank serves.

“We are grateful for the work these nonprofit organizations perform in our communities all year,” says Hattie Hyman Hughes, president of Fremont Bank Foundation and an executive vice president of Fremont Bank. “We know that they will put our holiday grants to great use and will make the season a little brighter for many local residents and their families.”

The following 18 agencies will each receive a $5,000 grant from Fremont Bank Foundation:

Food Bank for Monterey County (Monterey County)
International Orphan Relief Foundation (Brentwood)

Martha's Kitchen (San Jose)
Open Heart Kitchen (Livermore)
Our Lady of the Rosary Church (Union City)
Society of St. Vincent de Paul (Contra Costa County)
South Hayward Parish (Hayward)
Russian American Community Services (San Francisco)
St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County (Alameda County)
Tri-City Free Breakfast Program (Fremont)
Tri-City Volunteers, Inc. (Fremont)
Tri-Valley Haven (Livermore)
Viola Blythe Community Service Center (Newark)
