As it pulls back from financing commercial real estate, Fremont Bank has increased its business lending, which accounted for a third of its loans in 2023, compared to just 20% of loan production in 2022. Looking at what’s happening at longtime banking rivals, Mastorakis talks of “displaced customers,” such as contractors, professionals and other business owners, who may have felt lost as they suddenly found themselves doing business with a new bank.

Fremont Bank recently promoted long-time employee, Julie Zhu, to vice president of its Nonprofit Group. Julie’s Fremont Bank career began 35 years ago, when she was a regional branch manager. Now, she supports Fremont Bank’s nonprofit and other clients with their banking needs and participates in the distribution of charitable funds, with a focus on supporting local nonprofits that elevate the quality of life in Bay Area communities.

Fremont Bank is preparing to move into its new Fremont headquarters. The bank starts moving into the building in early April, with the official grand opening likely in May or June.

Students in the Brentwood Union School District will increase their chances to discover more educational experiences through use of their new Google Chromebooks, thanks to the Fremont Bank Foundation.

This year, students will have the opportunity to explore additional educational experiences thanks to Fremont Bank Foundation's $50,000 donation to the Brentwood Union School District to purchase 150 Chromebooks.

Open Heart Kitchen’s new location in The Vineyard Resource Center on North Livermore Avenue opened on January 22. The modern production kitchen and dining room, offers free meals Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. to those in need.
