St. Rose Hospital Foundation receives grant for Family Birthing Center
FREMONT, California - March 17, 2010 - To support St. Rose Hospital's mission to offer care for under-served children and to enhance the hospital's newly re-modeled Family Birthing Center, Fremont Bank has bestowed a $70,000 grant to the St. Rose Hospital Foundation on March 11. The grant will go directly towards the purchase and installation of a new security system for the hospital's Family Birthing Center, which performs approximately 1,300 deliveries annually.
Hospitals must comply with stringent state and federal security guidelines to ensure a safe environment for infants and families as a result of instances of infant abduction that were prevalent in the late 1980's. Many hospitals maintain a locked entrance and exit to their birthing units to comply with these mandates. This funding will allow St. Rose to have an additional layer of security by installing a state-of-the-art tracking-and-alarm system. Although there have been no instances of infant abduction at St. Rose, these safeguards set a standard of quality and regulatory compliance.
"The Fremont Bank Foundation's generous donation will enhance what is already considered to be a center of excellence for the care of infants, children and families," says St. Rose Hospital Foundation's Executive Director Pamela Russo. "The new security system will further improve the quality, safety and security of all patients in our Family Birthing Center."
"We remain very appreciative of Fremont Bank's support, which demonstrates their on-going commitment to helping under-served children and families in our community," says St. Rose Hospital's President and CEO Michael Mahoney.
