California Secretary of State Debra Bowen to Present at Fremont Bank on September 23rd
Secretary Bowen's presentation, "How Safe Are Our Elections?" —
A look at California's electronic voting systems
FREMONT, California - September 16, 2009 - Fremont Bank, a
leading full-service community bank in Northern California, is honored
to host California Secretary of State Debra Bowen on Wednesday, September
23rd at Fremont Bank's Niles Bankers Building (37611 Niles Blvd., Fremont,
CA) for her presentation "How Safe Are Our Elections?" — a look at the state's electronic voting systems.
Secretary Bowen has been a strong advocate for open government and clean elections where every vote is counted. Prior to the 2008 Presidential Primary, she commissioned an independent, top-to-bottom review of California's current voting systems in an effort to ensure reliability and accessibility for all voters. Based on the findings of the top-to-bottom review, Bowen re-certified several voting systems to include many additional security and auditing requirements.
Bowen has fought to increase government transparency wherever possible, while protecting personal privacy at every turn. For her bold leadership and her steadfast resolve to protect the integrity of California's voting systems, Bowen was honored with the 2008 "Profile in Courage Award" from the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library.
Reservations for the wine reception, dinner and presentation are limited. More information and reservations are available at 877-888-9688 or events@fremontbank.com.
