Alameda County Green Business Program Honors Fremont Bank for Environmental Sustainability

FREMONT, Calif., October 18, 2013 - Fremont Bank a leading full-service community bank in California, was recently honored by the Alameda County Green Business Program for its commitment to long-term environmental sustainability. Fremont Bank achieved the status of a Certified Bay Area Green Business earlier this year, which the Alameda program formally recognized at its annual Green Business Recognition event.

“Our recognition event is an opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of organizations like Fremont Bank to reduce waste, conserve resources and prevent pollution,” said Pamela Evans, coordinator for the Alameda County Green Business Program. “As a Certified Bay Area Green Business, Fremont Bank is performing in the top tier in several areas of environmental performance at its Operations Center.”

Fremont Bank Director of Facilities and Logistic Services Sandi Redmond and Facilities Manager Beth Fancher attended the event to receive Fremont Bank’s recognition.

The number of consumers and businesses who bank with Fremont Bank has grown 24% over this period of time. And, despite the economic downturn and the need for conservative underwriting practices, Fremont Bank expanded its commercial lending in each of these three years, lending a total of $740 million as part of its commitment to provide capital to local businesses. Service satisfaction scores among clients are among the highest in the industry.

“Fremont Bank has made sustainable business practices a high priority,” said Redmond. “This honor reflects the commitment of our leadership to protect our environment and encourage conservation among our associates, clients and communities.”

The bank has implemented a robust recycling program and a number of other energy-saving measures to ensure it meets the highest standards of environmental quality at its facilities. Last year, the Hayward City Council awarded Fremont Bank its “2012 Environmental Achievement Award” for its recycling initiatives to reduce landfill waste.
