Thirty-Year Commercial Real Estate Specialist Rejoins Bank to Help Expand Lending Business
FREMONT, Calif., February 4, 2013 - Fremont Bank, a leading full-service community bank in California, announced today the addition of Lou Scarpa to its commercial lending team as a senior commercial, multifamily loan officer and relationship manager. In his new role, Scarpa will focus on growing the bank’s portfolio of multi-family apartment, commercial real estate, and commercial and industrial loans.
Scarpa has 30 years of commercial real estate lending and brokerage experience in the Bay Area, including nearly a decade of previous service with Fremont Bank. He has also served as a vice president with Colliers International, TMC Development and, most recently, with Bank of the West, where he specialized in small business, multifamily, SBA 504, and commercial real estate loans.
According to Kim Burdick, senior vice president of Fremont Bank’s community banking group, Scarpa’s combination of long-term relationships with Bay Area brokers, industry knowledge and past history with Fremont Bank favorably position him to help grow the bank’s commercial lending business.
“Lou is an outstanding addition to the commercial lending team, and we are proud to welcome him back to the Fremont Bank family,” said Burdick. “Fremont Bank is committed to increasing commercial lending so that local businesses can get the capital they need to thrive. To that end, we have an aggressive vision for growth, and Lou will be instrumental in helping us achieve our goals.”
Last year, Fremont Bank had one of its strongest years of commercial lending on record, originating $339 million in loans that produced revenue of $221 million—a roughly 37 percent increase from 2011.
