Fremont Bank Among List of First Banks to Integrate Apple Pay for Clients

New service to provide an easy, secure, private way to pay.

FREMONT, Calif., December 22, 2014Fremont Bank, a leading full-service community bank in California announced their integration with Apple Pay™, a new category of service that promises to transform mobile payments with an easy, secure and private way to pay.

While big name banks have rushed to be the first to integrate with Apple Pay, Fremont Bank is one of the first community banks. Of all the banks in the U.S., Fremont Bank is the 23rd bank to implement this service to date, according to Apple in a release dated December 10, 2014.

Security and privacy are at the core of Apple Pay. The actual card numbers are not stored on Apple servers when you add a credit or debit card. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device. Each transaction is authorized with a one-time unique dynamic security code, instead of using the security code from the back of your card.

“Our goal is to offer our clients convenient and secure payment options for using their Fremont Bank debit card,” says Chris Olson, senior vice president, chief operations and enterprise risk officer. “Apple Pay is an example of our commitment to providing the best in technological payment solutions to our clients.”

Apple Pay will work with iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch, upon availability in participating stores. Within apps, Apple Pay is compatible with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3.
