Fremont Bank Foundation Sponsors SEMI High Tech U to Educate Silicon Valley High School Students on Career Opportunities
A $1000 Scholarship will be awarded by Fremont Bank to one deserving student
FREMONT, California - November 8, 2010 - Fremont Bank Foundation, a
philanthropic arm of the Bay Area’s Fremont Bank, is a proud
recurring sponsor of the SEMI High Tech U—a three-day educational
opportunity for 36 students from 11 Silicon Valley area high schools
to learn about high tech concepts, financial literacy and exciting
career opportunities, including banking.
Taking place on November 9-11 at San Jose State University, SEMI
High Tech U is an industry-driven math- and science-based career
exploration program produced and presented by the nonprofit SEMI
Foundation—a charitable organization supporting education
and career awareness in the fields of high technology—in partnership
with co-sponsors KLA-Tencor, Novellus, Advantest, Horiba, Fremont
Bank, and higher learning partner San Jose State University.
Since its inception in 2001, nearly 3,000 high school students
have attended High Tech U at no cost to themselves, their parents,
or their schools. The program engages students by showing them that
high tech can be fun. Fremont Bank also presents a financial literacy
session to provide the students with an informative overview of
banking, saving and the importance of money management.
On the final day, SEMI High Tech U will conduct a graduation ceremony
for the students. Each student will receive a graduation certificate,
and a $1000 scholarship will be awarded by Fremont Bank.
