Fremont Bank Honored As A Top Corporate Philantropist By The San Francisco Business Times
Bank also received Levi Strauss & Co. Community Commitment Award
FREMONT, California - July 24, 2008 - Fremont Bank was honored by the San Francisco Business Times at the Annual Corporate Philanthropy Summit on July 17th as one of the top corporate philanthropists in the Greater Bay Area for its remarkable financial contributions to non-profit organizations in 2007.
For the 4th year in a row, Fremont Bank made this very distinguished list of socially responsible Bay Area corporations, including Intel, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Union Bank of California, Chevron, AT&T, eBay, PG&E, and Safeway. The sum of giving by the top 70 companies on the list totaled $154.9 million—up from $140.3 million in 2006. This past year, Fremont Bank donated over $1.5 million to Bay Area-based nonprofits, and ranked 25 on the list. The amount includes donations made by the Bank’s Corporate Giving Program and grants awarded by the Fremont Bank Foundation.
Fremont Bank was also the recipient of a Levi Strauss & Co. Community Commitment Award—given to companies that give over one percent of their profits to Bay Area non-profits each year.
According to the Council on Foundations, one percent of pretax profits is considered the national benchmark for charitable giving best practices. Fremont Bank consistently surpasses this benchmark and has been bestowed the Community Commitment Award each year since 2006.
“Sharing with the community is one of Fremont Bank’s most vital roles. We’re honored to have our philanthropic efforts recognized and be once again the recipients of these prestigious awards,” says Hattie Hyman Hughes, Senior Vice President of Community Outreach at Fremont Bank.
